For extended review, please click HERE .Disclaimer: Minuscule spoilers. This is actually closer to a 3.5 to a 3 but wasn't fully swayed to give it a 4.This read was mainly focused on Brooklyn-from her childhood to her marriage with Gerald and how the deterioration of that marriage led her to be with Bo. In addition, it deals with the challenges of Brooklyn and Bos union due to outside forces.Shattered Reality was definitely rich in conflict and tackled a lot of issues (a combination ofPart 1 has us reading about the young girl who copes with a death of a parent and abuse. The rebellious teenage years and the interesting relationships. In this part, I just want to give Brooklyn a hug.In part 2, you could tell instantly the character had matured yet the search for happiness was just starting to be found. When faced with the possibility of happiness or to live the future in the current way of living, which is un-fulfilling and unchanging, Brooklyn pushes towards the happy ending
Shattered Reality is the first in a trilogy of books. It sets the ground work and back story for the primary character of Brooklyn. It reads somewhat like a autobiography while using suspense to create a most compelling timeline. While I think this series is probably going to be most appreciated by women, we read in the postscript of the book that Home Wrecker III will be written from the perspective of the principal male character in the book. I find this information about the series most
Home Wrecker 1 is a beautifully written memoir of a young lady's life as she tried to find the love and affection she needed to make her life complete. Brooklyn was not a bad girl but fate seemed to throw her lemons. She tried to make the best of bad situations and did her best to be the model wife. That is hard to do when you have to live with a domineering husband and cope with very serious medical problems.Brooklyn didn't intend to be a home wrecker but things happen. She finds true happiness
The other woman, the homewrecker, the floozy - so many nicknames for a woman who succumbs to her desires and has an affair with a married man. Proper society judges these women harshly and looks down on them. But what about the stories of these ladies?Homewrecker I relates the tale of one such woman who was married but couldn't handle the situation she was in. She falls in love with a married man who returns the feelings and life looks like it is going to be good. Then the exes come into the
Shattered Reality is a heartfelt and poignant "reminiscence" written as fiction. Ms. Perlin tells her life story openly, honestly, and without pretension. Her book traces her life in Southern California from her childhood in the '60s, her coming of age in the '80s, her marriage in the '90s and her divorce not long ago. It's a story rich with emotion, internal conflict, and amusing and heartwarming anecdotes. And, much sadness--loss, and illness strike "Brooklyn". It's a compelling story told in
Shattered Reality is a memoir-style novel about a young woman growing up in Southern California. Brooklyn describes the teenage trials and tribulations she encounters with her parents, family, and life in general. Upon reaching adulthood, complicated relationships and a dire illness transform her life beyond her worst nightmares. Raw and real, Shattered Reality explores the dark corners of Brooklyn's life, including her secrets, regrets, hopes, and triumphs. I'm looking forward to the next
