Narrative In Pursuance Of Books The House of Gaian (Tir Alainn #3)

Final book in the Tir Alainn series and everything comes racing to the end. There's a bit more sense of urgency with this book than the previous two, and I liked that with this one. Well, liked it until I found myself awake in the wee hours attempting to finish it before I could sleep, muttering "Just one more chapter" to myself.

All the loose threads get tied up, the battles are won, and all in all, the book completes itself. I've noticed lately, some books don't completely end when they end, which annoys me, but this one made sure everything was neatly taken care of. I grew to like quite a few of these characters, and I hope Anne Bishop comes back to this series like she has the Black Jewels series.

This was an adequate resolution of this series. I debated if it truly was liked or only okay and decided to go with 3.5 out of five stars.I was slightly disappointed the author did not give us a homecoming glimpse of Ashke. Also, I found some of the magic that contradicted the magical rules set into motion in earlier books.In the end, I was most disappointed in the House of Gaiann because they let the other races fall away by withdrawing themselves from the world. The House of Gaian is By far the best of the trilogy. I've read it twice now and will read it again whenever I need a lift. It parrallels the inquisition and tells how Tir Alainn was saved. There are land & sea battles and the best "final battle of good over evil" that I have ever read. It also has an interesting ending pretaining to how "THE EVIL ONE" came into being,(he gets his in the end). All in all, Tir Alainn is a world that I relate to and could easily live in.

Another wonderful ending to a exquite series. I wish I had half the talent Bishop does for writing. Wonderful charcters set in a beautifully described world. While this was a much more emotionaly ending, and did make me cry, I would have to say it is one of Bishop's best endings to a series.

An excellent and fast paced conclusion to the the Tir Alainn trilogy! This book was on par with the 2nd in the series and delivered well in terms of developing a few new characters and enhancing others from the prequel. Ms. Bishop did a thorough job with this trilogy and it has been an unexpected find for this year. These are books that I will continue to peruse in my mind over time. If you love fantasy magic with powerful and fully imagined female characters then this is a must read.

They are afraid they will be trapped in Tir Alainn forever, if the witches are killed off, and that serves as the primary motivator for them to become involved. Selena, a powerful witch from the Mother's Hills, takes a role in the story as a great force of power. Ashk serves as a voice of reason for the Fae, and Breanna's family home

I would say this series is "fluff fantasy" with beautiful, narcissistic Fae, who have forgotten their place in the world; naturalist, kind witches, who have mostly forgotten their heritage; and some chauvinistic Handmaid's Tale type villains.

I actually read this years ago and it felt like a good time to go back and reread. It is still a great read.
