Interpretation During Books Samsara Dog

This defies classification. The illustrations by Vivas are, as always, both gentle and intense. They support a text and concept that is both comforting and distressing. The idea of dogs (or anyone) returning to a new body to begin again with the lessons learned in previous lives is not so alien, but the pain of repeated loss will disturb some children. On her go other hand, it is a wonderful representation of the diverse roles and conditions of dogs and people throughout e world, and the diversity of cultures and personalities portrayed is a rich resource for discussions.

Critique Based On Books Samsara Dog

I know I gave this book 5 stars and I'm filing it under "kid," but DO NOT READ YOUR KID THIS BOOK! Seriously. It is far too sad. I cried IN THE LIBRARY! I had to just put it back. It's completely heart-wrenching. Far too sad for a kid is my official judgment, though I can see its use possibly for older children, children who are coping with extreme sadness anyway and/or teaching children about reincarnation. I feel the same way about the book "The Giving Tree," too, by the way. I love it, I

This book was a gift in more way than one. This lovely illustrated children's book is about reincarnation, specifically from the Buddhist tradition. I found it charming and peaceful. Gave me a few things to think about too.

A beautiful message on Buddhist reincarnation beliefs, Samsara Dog shows us what must be learned (in one life or as many as it takes) in order to pass from this world to Nirvana. I gave Samsara Dog five stars, one for each tissue I used as I cried my way thru the book. Australian author and artist.

I bought this book for my two-year-old son and he loves it. He doesn't understand the theme or message of the book, but he likes to hear me read it to him and he likes the pictures. I cringe when he wants me to read it to him, though, because I cry a little every time I read it. It's so incredibly beautiful. Whether you believe in reincarnation or not, it's one you should pick up.

A handy book for explaining reincarnation to children at a concrete level. In Dog's first life, he loves and trusts no one, living only for himself. With each successive life, a little more empathy and love develops until in his final life, Dog experiences and gives unconditional love.

By far the best modern chidren's book I have read. Mind you, I don't read a lot of them, but this book creeps into your heart.
