I dont read a lot of historical fiction, I tend to listen to it in Audio format. It can sometimes come across a bit dry, so I prefer hearing it than reading. While I enjoyed this book I ended up taking a star off because I found it a bit predictable and lacking in the unique spark that truly makes a good story great. Now that is not to say it was bad as I did finish the whole book in less than a week I just think it could have been truly spectacular. Roland was a cool character that I ended up feeling for and who I spent the book rooting. The ending was well chosen for the book and I would not be opposed to reading a sequel to it in the future.
