Description During Books Something About Witches (Arcane Shot #1)
It's amazing what a little magic can do...Ruby Night Divine is a gun shop owner. She's also a witch who knows magic can fail. She's experienced it first hand, with full-blown tragic consequences. Smith & Wesson is a whole hell of a lot more reliable, and nothing's as cathartic as the ability to put a few holes in the things that piss you off. Like Derek Stormwind.
A powerful sorcerer, Derek is determined to get to the bottom of why Ruby pushed him away and ran three years before. He also needs her help. A coven needs training to fight a demon and his minions. While Ruby is willing to do it, she's sure it's just a ruse to get back in her heart—and her bed. The thing is, that's where she wants him. Unfortunately, her bed's already made, she's this close to losing her soul, and she fears nothing can save her. Not Derek. Not even Smith & Wesson.

The moment the hero walked into her gun shop and back into her life after a 3 year absence was the moment the heroine realized she loved him a fiercely as ever. Inside her waged the war between stupid elation that finally he managed to track her down and terror and fear that she will not be able to summon the courage to send him on his way again. As sexy as eve, the hero still has that god like presence that commands respect and awe but to her, he's always been a man. A man she loved with hermind blowingly awesome. This book had so much depth and complexity and heart... I was amazed at Ms. Hill's genius. I sat down expecting to read a few chapters before bed and I'm now at 3am having finished this book b/c it was impossible to put down. I'm speechless and very much impressed by how much I loved this book. *this* is what I look for and what I rarely find. The magical elements were completely natural and organic to the story and the relationship between Ruby and Derek was perfect.
A truly good book. This is on my top 10 favorites this year.
I had very vague memories about this book, so since Joey W Hill told us that The Problem With Witches: An Arcane Shot Series Novel will be a crossover between this series and Knight Of The Board Room, I decided to reread the two first books. The banter between Ruby and Derek is very funny, but most of this story deal with darker feelings. You can feel the strong emotions of the characters, especially Ruby, because psychological analysis is Joey's speciality and she excels in this area. (view
OMFG...I loved this cast of characters. I wasn't sure if I was going to like a story about witches but I was blown out of the water. Ruby was a total mess, with so much pain and loss in her life that she couldn't see the joy and love of a totally committed man right in front of her.Derek Stormwind was the man every woman fantatizes about, and dreams about. He was so in love with Ruby and so forgiving...She pushed and pushed and even put a spell on him and he still kept coming. How can you not
I'm not one for starting reading existing series that already have a tonne of books available, the lazy part of me knows I'll never catch up so although I was aware Joey W. Hill had another really popular series about Vampires I thought this new Arcane Shot series would be the perfect opportunity for me to read some of her books. I like a bit of paranormal smut so I figured this series was prefect.Something About Witches ticked all the boxes for me, it has a heroine Ruby who is a witch, the hero
Something About Witches (Arcane Shot #1) by Joey W. HillIve read Joey W. Hills Knights of the Boardroom series and am working my way through her Vampire Queen series. I even have the first book in her Nature of Desire series on my TBR shelf. So when I found Something About Witches at my bookstore I grabbed it. Id heard it was to be more main stream. Everything is relative I guess. Ms. Hill does not write brain candy or fluff. The Knights of the Boardroom series starts out hard and ends OMG. The
