Better Than Perfect
Twenty-three-year-old Karlie has few friends, no boyfriend, and no plans to graduate from college anytime in the immediate future. She spends her free time hanging out with her elderly next door neighbor, daydreaming but never doing anything to escape the endless cycle of predictability.
When Karlie’s world is invaded by two surly twins bound for criminal court, a too-good-to-be-true love interest, and a cute cop who keeps showing up at the most inopportune moments, Karlie can either fight against the changes in her life, or embrace them.
I was looking for an easy read this weekend and I found this one was offered as a free book for the weekend. It did not disappoint. I don't read much romance so I'm not sure if this fits in that genre or not. But it certainly didn't fit with my perception of what is typical romance. It was a story of a woman who gets entangled with some young teens through her relationship with their grandmother. They have trials and troubles as many teens do. But is she equipped to take care of them? Is she
Excellent story. Wonderful characters. I wonder what will happen to the twins? Will them finish high school, go to college, and what career choice will each make? Will Karly and Adam stay in Ohio? Oh my!!!Excellent story. Wonderful characters. I wonder what will happen to the twins? Will they finish high school, go to college, what will each choose for a career, and will the whole family move to California? Oh my!!!
A perfect example of why Tricia Drammeh is one of my all time favorite authors. Her characters are so real and so relatable. in better than Perfect, Karie is stuck in life, refusing to move on since her parents' death. She even lives in her childhood home, sleeping in her old bedroom. Though her sister and adopted-grandmother Marita encourage her to move on, her anxiety won't let her. Then she meets Kevin. An almost too-good-to-be-true college classmate, who won't take her absent excuses when he
EnjoyableI liked the characters as I got to know them. An interesting story about life not being always what you expect it to be
This was good, as I felt Karlie's stress THE ENTIRE TIME while reading this book. Don't read this if you're trying relax. She's very close with her neighbor, an older woman who is supposed to watch her twin 14yr old grandsons for the summer. Neighbor has heart attack and Karlie picks up the slack while trying to maintain a college career, a job and a boyfriend... and all relationships suffer. This was really well written, and clean -- so if you're looking to read about the sexy times with her Bfs,
'Better Than Perfect' was a perfect and intriguing read. I really enjoyed this story and all the emotional problems facing the main character, Karlie. As each problem developed I wanted to continue reading to see if she could solve it and how.Tricia Drammeh's ability to slowly weave each problem and then follow through with the after-effects was brilliant.I know I'll be reading more of Ms. Drammeh's works.
