This book really showed the truth about some families... The lovely meeting and courtship was lovely. I loved the contemporary theme but also a modern twist on really a Romeo and Juliet side story. The end was very sad!! It made me cry!? If you are a soppy person and cry when reading soppy, sad books this book is definately for you! But be warned keep a box of tissues close by.. This book was okay, it was a asian Romeo and Juliet. I enjoyed the story plot as I have never read anything else like it before, I have also never read a book set in the olden days so it was something different for me. I did not expect Sukh to die or especially I didn't expect Rani to get abused by her own brothers and pregnant with Sukh.

This book is a modern tale about love and vengeance that is perfect for readers who love romance and the idea of forbidden love. It is set in two time periods taking you back to the Punjab in the 1960s and back to modern day Leicester. This book does contain traces of crime and mystery and a lot of plot twists!

I had been recommended this book over the years by many different people telling me that it was a really good book. I started to read it and thought it was good but not really amazing. At first, I a bit disappointed at the story but the ending just changed my opinion completely! You really have to stick it out till the end.
