The Raven is the first installment in Sylvain Reynard's The Florentine series. It is marketed as a paranormal romance, and it is, but it is also full of art, mystery, Italian culture, history...all with a gothic undertone that melds everything together beautifully. As the story progressed, the focus became more centered on the romance which disappointed me just a bit as I was really enjoying how the other elements were proportioned, but the vampire/human dynamic was not your typical paranormal
