Narration Toward Books Fruits Basket, Vol. 18 (Fruits Basket #18)

Every time I say that the former volume was a slower one I get hit with the feels in the next volume. So yeah since I said the last one was slow, I should have expected that this one would hurt again! *lol* This was already number 18 and there aren’t many volumes left. So ARGH!! It’s getting suspenseful. XD

Thoughts to the highlights of this volume:

- Machi and Yuki! <333 I love those two!!! And I ship them so damn hard! I can’t even say how much I loved it that he broke that chalk! Because damn that little gesture mean the world to Machi and me! XD

- HIRO!!! Gosh, he and Kisa grew so much! <3 I love that he’s such a great big brother and I’m so sorry what he had to go through. =(( Poor boy! He’s on the best way to be an amazing person though, so Akito didn’t break him and only made him stronger.

- Hatsuharu having a go at Akito!! I knew if anyone ever dared to take him on it would be Hatsu and damn I was right! XD I love my boy so much! He’s so fierce and protective of the ones he loves and he didn’t eve hesitate to confront Akito. If every one of the Sohma’s would be like him, Akito’s influence would have been gone a long time ago. =)

- Hatsu and Rin! <333 I love them together! They should never part and always be a couple! And if Akito isn’t okay with that he can go and be all alone! Hatsu finally carrying Rin HOME was one of the most beautiful things ever! <3

- I’m worried about Kureno now, because we all know how vicious and cruel Akito can be and he basically broke his heart. =(

- Shigure!! I really want to find out what is going on with Shigure! His role is so much more than I first thought it would be and with every volume I read, his character gets another complicated layer! Who is he even?! And even more important: DID HE REALLY MEAN WHAT HE SAID TO RIN AT THE END OF THIS VOLUME??? OMG! O_o

I need to read the next one soon! XD

Comment On Epithetical Books Fruits Basket, Vol. 18 (Fruits Basket #18)
I love Machi's story!Technically, I love pasts where the past does affect who the character is. The character isn't just THERE the way they are just because. There's a reason they act how they act and do what they do.Machi's fear of perfection was a really original idea. It's sorta interesting how it's strong enough to freak her out even if it's just a field of perfectly non-driven snow and a brand new box of chalk. (And those things are relatively harmless.)The kind of fears that bring an

AWESOME!

Plot things are coming thick and fast! Stuff is really starting to happen like crazy now, and all kinds of secrets and conspiracies and deceptions are being revealed. Kyo has a beautiful moment of connection with Machi. I think those two might be friends after all! Emotional stuff being brought up, and I'm so surprised and touched by Machi's story. She's really a lovely person! It's nearing the end of the school year, so all the upperclassmen are saying goodbye, and Yuki gets caught in the middle

I started this manga rooting for Yuki, totally now firmly Team Kyo.

Yuki and Machi are totally precious. I was hoping he would find someone since Tohru is so obviously attached to Kyo. He finds out that Machi can't handle perfection. That's why she's been trashing rooms and messing things up. The cutest part is when they're sitting next to each other in a meeting and someone sets down a brand new box of chalk. She looks at it nervously and he just reaches over and breaks a piece to ease her mind. It's so sweet! The chapter with Motoko is short, but cute. She

so here we are, volume 18...and what a volume it is! In this collection of pages we learn a lot about the past! we learn about Maci's destructive behaviours and where they have steamed from. Yuki sees her for who she is an shows a wonderful amount of empathy and acceptance when he snaps a stick of chalk. It is a beautiful moment. We also FINALLY learn what happened to Rin, we now know why she was in hospital in the earlier chapters! it is sad and not really surprising when you find out about it,

This is a fairly uneventful volume after the revelations of the last one. It does show more of Machi's character though and shows the level of understanding developing between her and Yuki. There's also plenty to enjoy in the relationship between Haru and Rin and Hiro's unlikely connection with her. The friendship between Tohru and Rin is also pretty sweet, especially as they have such different personalities.
