A straight-A, honor roll student visits her father in Reno and becomes incredibly addicted to meth.This trilogy was jarring. The way Ellen Hopkins writes is something I haven't seen before and it makes the book all the more powerful. I love this book because it shows how quickly addiction can ruin a life, and that nobody is safe from it. Antony: I got this book from Marija, and I liked it just as much as she did. It was really realistic, and it didn't glamorize any of the problems that came outMy students are fascinated by Kristina's fall from normal, spoiled-white-girl to full blown meth addict. Hopkins' writing is filled with figurative language, so it makes teaching poetic terms to poetry-hesitant adolescents very easy. She also has a nice vocabulary. The topic provides opportunity to do research on several topics (meth, addition, depression, dysfunctional relationships, etc.). Well balanced book to teach teens with low reading interest because it grabs their attention and holds it
Crank and Glass: my best books of the series...Fallout: not so much. Maybe it's because it's from the children's POV, but if it was from Kristina's it would've been repetitive. I have mixed feelings about the series conclusion in Fallout. But it had the necessary elements for a good (bittersweet) ending.I think everyone should read this series. I may have once thought that I would've liked to try crank myself, but after reading this series it's definitely helped me to see that that's not such a
loved it but not so much the second book!
I really thought it was super cool that the book was written in like poetry format.
Another reread. Because this is the kind of book that deserves rereading.
I found it thought provoking but not as brilliant and Ellen Hopkins "Identical". All in all a good story.
